Asus announced the new upgraded version of FonePad at Computex 2014 that features both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. The upgraded version of FonePad 7 has an 7-inch (1280 x 800) HD IPS display with 10 finger multi-touch and Anti-fingerprint coating and is powered by a 1.83 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 processor with PowerVR Series 6 – G6430 GPU instead of the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Clover Trail Plus Z2560 Dual Core Processor. The company also has upgraded the OS and it runs the latest Android 4.4 (Kitkat) OS instead of Android v4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS.
Compare to the old FonePad 7 it slightly thicker and lighter at just 9.8mm thick and weighs 299 grams. It also has the similar Dual SIM functionality with dual standby mode.
Rest of the specifications are almost similar to the older version. It includes a 5MP rear camera with 1080p Full HD video recording while front-facing camera has been upgraded to 2.0MP from 1.3MP with 720p Video Recording. Other specifications are also the same which is 1GB of RAM, 8GB / 16GB internal memory and expandable memory with microSD.
It has the 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS connectivity and features 15Wh battery that end up for 10 hours.
Apart from this, Asus has also announced the all new Asus Fonepad 8 with quad-core Intel Atom processor and runs on Andorid KitKat 4.4 OS with Zen UI.
In terms of specifications, the Asus Fonepad 8 comes with an 8-inch (1280 x 800) HD IPS display with 10 finger multi-touch and Anti-fingerprint coating and is powered by a 1.83 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 processor with PowerVR Series 6 – G6430 GPU.
Rest of the specifications and features are similar to the FonePad7, which includes a 5MP rear camera with 1080p Full HD video recording, 2MP front-facing camera with 720p Video Recording, 1GB RAM, 8GB / 16GB internal memory, expandable memory with microSD and 15.2 Wh battery with up to 10 hours of battery.
Both the device would come in four variants including black, white, gold and red colors and would be available sometime in Q3 2014.
