Official file manager app ‘Files’ for Windows Phone 8.1 finds its way to the store

Microsoft has launched the Official file manager app for Windows Phone 8.1. ‘Files’ is a free app for managing all the files on Windows Phone. It was first heard about when Microsoft Windows Phone guru Joe Belfiore did an AMA on Reddit earlier this month. He claimed that it would land by the end of May.

With Files users can access their phone’s documents, music, downloads, pictures, and more. It does not matter if it is on SD card or on the internal phone storage, Files app can handle it all. Folder creation is supported, along with normal tasks like moving and deleting content. The app is also faster than the alternatives, and also can directly share the files through any of the available apps that show up on the share contract.

The store description reads –

By using this app you can:
• Access files stored on your phone and SD card
• Browse, search and launch files
• Easily share one file or multiple files
• Create folders to organise your files
• Copy, move, rename and delete files
